Plan Your Inspection Before Regular Fireplace Use
Cooler Fort Worth evenings often bring fireplaces back into regular use. An annual chimney and fireplace inspection gives you a chance to discuss last season’s performance and identify visible maintenance concerns before lighting a fire.
Fall is a practical time to prepare, but you do not need to wait for fall. An inspection earlier in the year is useful too; smoke, damage or a new venting problem calls for evaluation whenever it appears.
Creosote forms as a byproduct of wood burning. It can remain in an unused chimney through summer; summer itself does not create new creosote in a fireplace that is not being used.
Inspection findings determine whether soot, creosote, nesting material or other debris needs removal. Sweeping removes deposits and accessible debris; it does not repair a damaged liner or establish that every concealed component is suitable for use.
A soot-stained masonry firebox with a visible back-wall crack. Have damage evaluated before further fireplace use; a photograph alone cannot establish the repair scope.
From ground level, watch for loose chimney materials, cap damage, rust, water stains or debris after North Texas storms. Do not climb onto the roof to investigate.
An inspection can identify visible concerns and recommended next steps. Cleaning and repairs are separate tasks; the appropriate repair and price depend on the findings and your approval.
Smoke entering the room, animal activity or an unusual draft problem deserves evaluation before further use. Deposits, obstructions, damage and other conditions can contribute, so sweeping alone may not resolve the cause.
If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds or you suspect a chimney fire, leave the home and call 911 from outside. Arrange inspection before using the system again.
Tell the office about your fireplace type, how often you burn, your last service and any smoke or water-entry concerns. Mention a home purchase, appliance change or chimney fire so the appropriate inspection can be arranged.
Before regular use, follow your appliance instructions and test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms according to their manufacturer’s directions. Use dry, seasoned firewood. Do not use a visibly damaged fireplace while waiting for an evaluation.
Chimney sweeping with a visual inspection of accessible fireplace and chimney components is $169.99 plus tax. Inspection-only service is $129.99 plus tax. We explain visible findings and recommended next steps before additional work is approved.
A visual inspection does not automatically include a full video scan, concealed-area investigation, cleaning or repairs. Tell Cindy about special inspection needs or suspected damage so the appropriate service and price can be confirmed.

If you also need dryer vent cleaning, mention it when scheduling. The standard dryer vent cleaning price is $149.99 plus tax; access and the service needed should be confirmed with the office. A combined visit does not automatically include a discount.
Fort Worth Chimney Sweeps is a family-owned business serving homeowners since 1991. Cindy helps coordinate service, and our technicians explain visible findings so you can decide on recommended work.
A good fall appointment starts with the condition of your fireplace, its maintenance history and the service you actually need. No inspection or repair is a guarantee against every future problem.

No. Schedule before regular fireplace use when practical. Earlier service can leave time for repairs, and new smoke or damage concerns should be evaluated whenever they arise.
New creosote forms from burning wood. Deposits from previous use can remain through summer, and an unused chimney can still develop animal, moisture or component problems.
Inspection-only and sweeping with a visual inspection are different services. Repairs and special inspection needs require a separate recommendation and approval; confirm the service with Cindy.
Describe the fireplace or appliance, last service, frequency of use and any smoke, odor, animal activity or water entry. Mention a home purchase, appliance change or chimney fire.
